Q&A

PSST! uses a collaborative process that is based on the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. How has participating in this project made you look at your own work differently?
It was really fun. We were lucky to get "in between"- so we enjoyed both: thinking how to mess up with previous part, and guessing how our work will be turned out too.
Of course, working in such process establishes some topics and directions without your will, but differently than working on clients work- here your main goal is to subtle overcome and escape those rules, and draw your very own line.
Generally this project was really pleasant to us. It was our first collaboration with other artist teams, and it would be interesting to have even more closer and more twisted work flow. Doing actual animation was fun too, especially making a "giant" doll (sadly it got so little time on screen). A bunch of parts used in this character's design were bought in flea market. Some stuff of his body is relative to our childhood :)

PSST! is a project in which the outcome is also left up to a certain amount of chance – because the whole process is detemined by the successive artist's reactions to the previous work. How do you feel about losing some of the "control" over your final work?
As we worked in team with really great and talented people, "losing control" gave more curiosity and cheerful surprise than anxiety feelings about something going wrong. It is always interesting to see your ideas reinterpreted by other creative people. Thanks Honest for giving us an interesting theme and inspiring us a lot, and James Price did awesome wrapping up of the story.

Who would you "Pass it on..." to if you had a chance?
There is so much great individuals and companies we love, that we better not exclude any.
Thanks our girls for patience waiting us late at home and also big thanks for our music composer Vitalijus Karnisinas which helped our ass out!
Big thanks for Bran for inviting us!

PSST! is also intended to showcase the personal work of designers and artists that generally work in relative anonymity or within a studio system in which credit is applied to a company rather than individual artists. How do you view this in relation to your client-driven work?
We see it as a nice chance to be seen worldwide, cause quite all our today's client-driven work is for local market which is quite small and does not rises needs for those types of work we admire most. So it's one more "carreer opportunity" to us- to be seen and maybe to find more offboard work or to team up with other talented people on projects wider than just our own abilities.

What keeps you motivated from project to project?
New realisation horizons. Hunger ;)

What's next for you? Any cool projects coming up?
Right after about a month spent on PSST! we grabbed some commercial work to refill our cash (we did some pictures and a small animation for local wear brand: http://www.flickr.com/photos/petpunk/sets/72157594560102460/ ).
And now, finally we have more time for our in-house work - first we're building our new website and reel and then full powers on our own short animation film we were waiting so long!
So, there's a lot to be done till summer.
